Let's Do Something Good chooses one charity every month that we support and promote to the people of Dallas / Fort Worth. We believe that if people take just a few hours out of their busy lives or can give even a small amount, we can change the lives of thousands of people right here in our own DFW communities.
We have chosen Rebuilding Together for our April 2012 charity of the month!
Volunteers Needed April 21st and April 28th - National Rebuilding Day
Rebuilding Together is a national non-profit organization dedicated to creating safe and healthy homes for those in dire need of critical home repairs, disability modifications, and energy efficient upgrades. Every aspect of the job is at NO COST to the homeowner and families served. Most of our homeowners are elderly and handicapped or have limited mobility.
The need for safe and healthy home rehabilitation is great. Our homeowners often must choose to put aside basic home maintenance in order to afford basic necessities such as food and electricity, putting their home home, health, and dignity at great risk.
How can you help?
1. Volunteer - Anyone can pick up trash, rake a yard, scrape paint, or clean.
2. Skilled Labor - If you have a construction skill and are willing to donate your time, you are extremely valuable in the refurbishing process.
3. Product Donation - You may have extra lumber, used air conditioning units, windows or any other type of construction material.
4. Financial Donations - This is always the most challenging, but most everyone can afford a few dollars. The DFW chapter of Rebuilding Together turns every $1 donation into $4 in goods and services!
